New COPA Flight in Manitoba

After a couple of visits from Manitoba/Nunavut Director Jerry Roehr members in Shoal Lake, Manitoba organized and were granted COPA Flight 162 status in May 2009. Even though a little late, a most suitable venue to present the certificate was the annual fall Fly-in Breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009.

As far as fly-in breakfast goes, it was a terrible day with fog from the ground up.

When Jerry Roehr arrived from Winnipeg after a 280 km drive, he could not believe his eyes. There were cars everywhere on the airport and the hangar was full of people. To a city boy it was the most beautiful site to see that aviation is well in rural Manitoba and is supported by the whole local and surrounding community. By the way Winnipeg COPA Flight Captain Harry Wiebe and Russell COPA Flight Captain Richard Wildman also attended to be on hand for the celebration.
