As I sit here on this cold windy winter PEI day, I can’t help thinking about all our unfortunate members who have to spend their winters in some warm southern climate.
How boring it must be to wake up every morning knowing that today is going to be sunny and warm, worrying about getting all those ultra-violet rays. No such worry here as we never know until we wake up in the morning what the actual weather will be and those mean ultra-violet rays can’t penetrate all these layers of clothing.
COPA Flight 57/PEI Flying Association held their AGM and Christmas Party in December with approximately 40 members and guests. After the AGM, we were treated to a great meal put on by Chef Dave and the Runway Café followed by a trivia program of television show theme songs. There were lots of prizes and laughter.
At the AGM, elections were held for some of the executive positions. Brian Pound took over as Captain/President, replacing Barry Martin, John Brewer as Co-Captain/Vice President replacing Dico Reyers and Deryck Hickox (as we now have a Past Captain/Past President, we decided to go with one Co-Captain) and Ed Morrissey replaced Greg Davis as Navigator/Secretary. Good luck to the new executive and my thanks to the old executive for the help that they gave me over the years.
Because of all the cards and letters that I received over the years for my COPA Flight News articles, I was allowed to continue with the newsletter. Funny how so many people have handwriting exactly like my mothers.
As last years successful Rust Remover session was put on by Summerside’s COPA Flight 125, it is our turn to hold this years Rust Remover session. It was held in Charlottetown at the Skyplex on Saturday, March 28, featuring various discussions and speakers concerning the safety of flying.
On every other Saturday morning, we will be meeting at the Runway Café, also located in the Skyplex, for breakfast before the session. Any questions or comments, please contact me at Bmartin@islandtelecom.com.
