Flight treats 28 at COPA For Kids day

On Saturday, May 28, the Salmon Arm Flying Club (COPA flight 80) hosted a COPA For Kids day. The weather cooperated after having to cancel and move up one week. Winds were light and the sun was shining.

Club member Terry Bach taught a quick ground school explaining how an airplane flies and procedures for operating them. Four pilots volunteered to take the kids up. Stu McIvor in his Piper Cherokee, Terry Bach flew the club’s C- 172, Garth Mercer flew his RV 7A, and Casey Leyenhorst flew his Maule M5.

A total of 28 kids were given their first experience in a light aircraft. When everybody had had a turn we all had pizza and pop courtesy of the SAFC. There were lots of happy faces and the day was a success.

Thanks to all who volunteered.
