COPA Flight # 5 in conjunction with the Boundary Bay Flying Club just completed another successful Young Eagles flight on Aug.11th at (ZBB) the Boundary Bay Airport. We didn't have quite as many YE's as usual but we did fly 47 very happy youngsters.
We have flown just under 900 since 2002.
We had seven planes and pilots with enough volunteers to handle the safe loading, unloading and picture taking by parents.
We were very fortunate to have had the use of the "Pacific Flying Club facilities at ZBB.
The retired " COPA guys" Tony and Mary were once again on hand to join in. Tony kept the parents entertained while the children were in flight and Mary was there to see that all pilots and volunteers had lunch at the end of our three flights.
My thanks to all who took part in making it a very enjoyable day and to the staff of the Tower who handled the excess traffic.
Several COPA Flight # 5 members attended the first fly-in of the new COPA Flt. #151 at Pemberton, B.C. on July 14th. We enjoyed a good B.B.Q. and met their group and enjoyed "hangar flying"
Randy and Gloria Elkins of Flight # 151 expressed their interest in holding a first Young Eagles Event in 2008 and we were happy to say that they flew down to ZBB on Sat. Aug. 11 to attend our Young Eagles Day and joined in as volunteers.
We're already making plans for 2008.
Until next time...
