New COPA Charter presented to Lindsay Flight

The members of the Kawartha Lakes Flying Club (Lindsay), COPA Flight 101, pose in front of a gleaming Sea Bee. This aircraft is a 1946 much modified Seabee provided by Brian Robinson of Eric B. Robinson Seabee Conversions.

The original 215 hp engine has been replaced by a 1998 Corvette LS 1 V8 rated at 320 hp. Other features include drooped ailerons, automotive style heating and air conditioning.

COPA Director Doug Ronan (centre left) presents the new Charter for COPA Flight 101 to Flight Captain Flavelle Barrett. The group was somewhat smaller than  usual as a number of members were unable to attend due to a severe storm in the area.

The Flight 101 designation was taken from the F101 Voodoo fighter plane that once graced the roadside in front of the airport, attracting much attention. COPA Flight 101 meets the first Thursday of every month at Lindsay airport and all interested aviators are invited to “drop in.” Next meeting is Sept. 1 followed by COPA for Kids on Sat. Sept. 17.
