Oshawa couple recognized with COPA’s Award of Merit

At the recent COPA AGM and Fly-in, held in Langley, BC, it was announced at the Awards Ceremony that Lesley and Jeff Page of COPA Flight 70 - Oshawa had been awarded the Award of Merit in recognition of the couple’s extensive efforts to introduce youth and women to aviation, as well as for their leadership that had resulted in Oshawa Airport being named the 2010 “Most Female-Pilot-Friendly Airport” in the world.

As they were unable to attend Langley for the Award presentation, Southern Ontario Director, Paul Hayes, brought the trophy back with him and arrangements were made for him to present it personally at a barbecue held on July 20, at the Air Force Association of Canada (AFAC) 420 Wing at Oshawa Airport.

The presentation was made with our National President and CEO, Kevin Psutka, in attendance, along with over 60 friends from COPA Flights 70 and 44, the 99s, the Air Cadet League of Canada, and 420 wing of the AFAC.

It was indeed a great event for the presentation of this very well deserved COPA Award to Lesley and Jeff.
