Our 2010 Board of Director elections are over and the results were published in the May issue of COPA Flight. Let me recap.
From Quebec Frank Hofmann will be returning to his seat on the Board and Robert Bergeron will be taking over retiring director Michel Moreau’s seat.
From southern Ontario Paul Hayes and Doug Ronan will be returning to the Board and Phil Englishman will be taking over retiring director Harold Fry’s seat.
From British Columbia Terry Wilshire will be returning to the Board and Tim Cole will be taking over retiring director Ken Armstrong’s seat.
Welcome to the new members and welcome back to those returning. The new Board takes over immediately after this year’s AGM in Summerside, PEI.
This will be your new Board of Directors after June 26th:
For Newfoundland & Labrador: Ray Hawco
For NS, NB and PE: Brian Chappell and Ernie McLean
For Quebec: Frank Hofmann and Robert Bergeron
For southern Ontario: Paul Hayes, Doug Ronan and Phil Englishman
For northern Ontario: Marc Charron
For Manitoba & Nunavut: Jerry Roehr
For Saskatchewan: Earl Kickley
For Alberta & NT: Bill Beaton and Bob Kirkby
For British Columbia & YK: Terry Wilshire and Tim Cole.
Unfortunately there will be another vacancy in July. Alberta director Bill Beaton finds it necessary to step down effective July 15, 2010. Bill has been a strong voice on the Board and has been Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee for the past two years.
Those of you who attended the 2009 COPA convention in Springbank are aware that it was our most successful convention in recent years. Bill chaired the organizing committee for that convention and brought together a large group of volunteers who all did a great job. We will miss Bill on the Board and wish him success in his endeavours.
Since Bill is stepping down prior to the end of his term the board will decide how to fill the vacancy at the June Board meeting.
On behalf of the Board, the staff and our members I would like to say a big thank you to our departing directors Michel Moreau, Harold Fry, Ken Armstrong and Bill Beaton. The time you volunteered for Board work, COPA Flight support in your regions, and advocacy issues in your regions is very much appreciated by all of us.
Please feel free to contact the director or directors from your region if you would like them to visit your COPA Flight or if your have any aviation issues you think they might be able to help with. Their contact information is on our web site and on page 3 of the COPA Flight newspaper.
Meanwhile, keep your prop spinning?
