Closing date for voting will be April 4, 2010, after which electronic and manual votes will be counted and verified by a team of scrutineers on April 6. The results will be announced on April 7, online and in the May newspaper.

As soon as the results are known, COPA President/CEO will inform the winners so that they can make travel plans to attend the COPA Board meeting on June 25, in Summerside, PEI and the COPA Fly-in AGM held from June 25-27. New Directors will assume their duties following the AGM on June 26.

Voting

Voting is open only to members in the election regions of British Columbia/Yukon and Southern Ontario (any postal code in Ontario except those starting with P).

Members are again able to vote online. Alternatively, members can request that a ballot be mailed to them. Please call COPA at 613-236-4901 and a paper ballot and pre-addressed ballot envelope will be sent via Canada Post.

If you vote by mail-in ballot, you must include your COPA membership number on the outside of the envelope in order for your vote to be counted.

Both electronic and mail-in ballots must be received at COPA headquarters by no later than April 4, 2010.

Electronic voting instructions

First, click the “Election” button at the top of the home page then sign-in with your user name (membership number) and password (your last name in CAPITAL letters) as you normally would do to get into the “members only section.” Follow the five steps listed below:

1) Click on Vote Now in the Current Elections box.

2) On the left of your ballot screen there is a list of the candidates you can vote for. For more information on each candidate you can click on their name.

3) Each COPA member in an Election region may vote once. If you have a family membership, each family member will have to log-in with their own user name and password to place their vote. You can select the candidate simply by clicking the candidate’s name. You can select any number of candidates up to the maximum for your region (ex. three for Southern Ont., two for BC/Yukon).

4) Check your vote, making sure there are no choices that you would like to change. Once finished, click submit and you will receive a confirmation on your screen that your vote has been received.

5) If you decide to change your vote after you have submitted it, you must contact membership@copanational.org or tel.: 613-236-4901 (ext 105) and request a paper ballot.  Please include your membership number, name and mailing address. A paper ballot and pre-addressed ballot envelope will be sent via mail.

Election results will be reported in the May COPA Flight, and the new directors will be confirmed in their positions at the June 26, 2010, Annual General Meeting held in Summerside, PEI.

At that time we will also bid farewell and give our thanks and appreciation to those directors who will not be continuing, for their many years of dedication and volunteer commitment to COPA’s Board.
