What is the Canadian Business Aviation Association?
Established in 1961 and headquartered in Ottawa, the Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA) is the principal representative of business aviation in Canada.
Its purpose is to provide a collective voice to enhance the understanding and value of business aviation.
CBAA is a founding member of the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC).
It is affiliated with several national aviation associations including COPA, ATAC and AQTA, as well as provincial aviation councils in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
CBAA also has a strong working relationship with the National Business Aviation Association in the United States.
Currently over 150 companies are members of CBAA, and this number is growing.
The association represents over 70 flight departments which operate helicopters to A320s, floatplanes to business jets.
There are four membership categories: Business and Commercial members who own and operate Canadian registered aircraft; Affiliate members who own and operate
foreign registered business aircraft in Canada; and Associate members who are manufacturers or provide products, product support and service to the industry.
CBAA is actively working on behalf of business aviation on a number of significant issues including: airport access, user fees, airworthiness matters, system safety, CANPASS, AWOS, Canadian Air Regulations and Self Regulation for operators holding private Operating Certificates.
The association’s annual convention, trade show and static display draws an average of 700 attendees, 50 exhibiting companies and 20 aircraft.
