Flying to the U.S. in 2007? You Will Need a Passport!
Canadians who arrive in the U.S. by airplane will need to present a valid passport for entry, starting on Jan. 8, 2007. This change in travel documentation required is part of the U.S. government’s Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. COPA Members who are planning to fly to the U.S. by private aircraft or airline and who do not currently hold a valid passport should apply soon since delays are anticipated due to the demand. You should also consider who will travel with you to the U.S. and make sure they each have a valid passport. Passports currently cost $87 and are valid for five years. More information about getting a passport can be found on the Passport Canada website: www.pptc.gc.ca. More information on passport requirements and the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative is available from the Canada Border Services Agency website: www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca. |
