The regulatory changes that will make the Owner-maintenance Aircraft Category part of to the Canadian Aviation Regulations have reached the final stage before being voted on in parliament. The necessary amended rules were published in the Canada Gazette Part II, March 13, 2002. There is a 30-day public comment period from then before the changes go before the House of Commons. The O-M program is still subject to change. In the meantime, the O-M category is available through exemptions. When the final rules are in place, they will be published on COPA’s Web site and in Canadian Flight. Contact Garth Wallace.
