Here is a link you may want to look at
www.faa.gov/ats/oakaifss. This Web
site is for the Federal Aviation Administration’s Oakland International Flight
Service Station (AIFSS) in Oakland, California. While some of the information on
the site is specific to flights in northern California, there is a lot of useful
information applicable to anyone who is planing to fly into the United States.
Oakland has recently worked with Canadian pilots who were unable to contact the
facility using their cellular phones.
Calls to toll-free 800 numbers usually revert to the cell phone home area. In
the case of someone from Canada, they would not be able to call the toll-free
800 number for United States flight service stations.
To help in this situation, the FAA’s Oakland AIFSS Web site has a listing of the
commercial (toll) numbers for every flight service station in the United States.
