COPA has provided extensive input to two government working
groups dealing with aircraft and airport security enhancement measures. Interim
reports have been sent to the government for decision and although general
aviation is mentioned as needing to be addressed, no specific measures have been
recommended. The effort to date has been on airline and terminal building
security issues. So far, reason has prevailed in Canada and our freedoms remain
largely intact. Further security work and COPA participation is anticipated in
