After years of rumours, Mayor David Elliot and
Council of the City of Nelson are preparing to push ahead with the closure of
the Nelson Airport (CZNL).
The decision is being based on numbers that do not accurately reflect the
realities of the airport’s operation, and an ignorance of the non-quantifiable
benefits an airport offers to a community.
The Nelson Airport located in beautiful British Columbia, was opened in 1946 and
now serves a community of approximately 10,000 people.
It is an important link for a region with limited transportation access.
We must help put an end to this destructive push for closure, and make sure the
airport remains open to the City of Nelson community.
