COPA has had several members call in and ask
“Since Dec. 17, 2003 has passed and we flew 1,000,000 Young Eagles, is the
program over?” The answer is “Absolutely not!”
Young Eagles has become such an integral part of the lives of so many EAA and
COPA members, EAA Chapters and COPA Flights, that EAA and COPA will be
continuing the program. Now that the December 17 goal of flying 1,000,000 kids
has been reached EAA will be setting annual goals for the program. In 2004 they
are hoping we will all fly 100,000 Young Eagles globally.
Every year COPA members and COPA Flights fly thousands of Young Eagles,
individually and as part of organized events, such as Young Eagle’s Days.
Overwhelmingly, COPA members have indicated they want to continue the program
and keep flying Young Eagles because it is worth it to see the smiles on the
faces of the kids!
If you or your COPA Flight haven’t flown Young Eagles before it is not too late
to start. Complete information is available on the COPA Web site
