With the recent passing of
Southern Ontario Director Ken Gamble, a vacancy was created on the COPA Board.
At its recent meeting, the
Board decided to appoint Darin Graham to fill Ken's term until the next COPA
election in 2006.
Darin, age 44, is very
active in recreational aviation. Both he and his wife, Lisa, received their PPL
about five years ago and have already achieved their IFR. Darin has also
completed his commercial ticket, while Lisa finishes hers, with the long-term
plan of both of them becoming part-time instructors.
They own a 1973 Piper
Cherokee and a 1946 Fleet Canuck and are active in many areas at their home
airport, Carp, Ontario, including organizing a Young Eagles event this year.
On the professional side,
Darin holds a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering and has also served as the
president of a high-tech telecommunications research company.
Darin was a candidate in the
most recent southern Ontario COPA election. His platform included pressing for
awareness of COPA and its mission beyond just the aviation community as being
vital to its continued success.
Darin’s skills and a fresh approach are only some of the assets he brings that will help COPA achieve success.
