Places to Fly keeps on growing

COPA’s online, user-editable airport directory continues to grow every week. As of March 5, 2006, it had 478 airports catalogued. This is great growth from its start in May 2005 when the existing 133 airports were converted from the old Places to Fly.

Since the new Places to Fly is “user-editable” the pages are updated by COPA members, airport operators and managers, foreign pilots and members of the public. Anyone can add new airports or add, remove and change information for the existing entries. Photos and logos can be uploaded as well.

Because the information in Places to Fly can be changed in “real time” this means that many airport entries have up to date information about landing fees and fuel prices. This is something that the more traditional printed paper airport directories, like the CFS just can’t provide.

Some of the recent airports added to Places to Fly include: Montebello Ski Strip Quebec, Aylmer / Prud’homme’s Ice Strip Quebec, God’s Lake Manitoba, Gods Lake Narrows Manitoba, Gods River Manitoba, Zhoda Manitoba, Glaslyn Saskatchewan, Goodsoil Saskatchewan, Kelvington Saskatchewan, Zama Alberta, Zama Lake Alberta, Deloraine Winchester Manitoba, Bristol New Brunswick, Carp - Argue Ontario, Bonnyville Regional Alberta, Kerrobert Saskatchewan, Cookstown Ontario, Coral Harbour Nunavut and Cottam Ontario.

Why not check and see if your favourite airports are there and up to date. If they are missing why not add them? If they are there, why not check to see if the fuel prices and other information are up to date. You can find Places to Fly on COPA’s website: www.copanational.org.

It only takes a few seconds to change the information posted using the user-friendly form – no special computer skills are needed. There is also a complete User’s Guide to explain how everything works if you need more help. Together COPA members are building the most complete directory of Canadian airports ever – be part of it!
