COPA seeks nominations for awards

It’s that time again to ponder who in your flying circle deserves recognition for their dedication or good deeds that make our hobby more enjoyable.

He or she might be a club member, AME, government guy, local politician, or brave rescue person.

COPA Awards are our way to say "Thank You!" to those we appreciate in aviation.

Tony Swain is your Awards Committee chair, so send your nominations to him via COPA by fax or e-mail  All we need is a brief nomination letter stating the Who, Where, Why, and When. One or two pages is generally sufficient, if we need to know more we'll ask.

Except for the Literary Award, winners will be chosen by the COPA Board of Directors from nominations within the General Aviation community.

·         COPA Presidents Award: Presented annually to the person(s) who has made a significant contribution to general aviation in Canada in recent years.

·         COPA Award of Merit: Presented to the person(s) who has actively supported and promoted COPA in the past year.

·         COPA Appreciation Award: Presented to the person(s) who has performed on-going service and support to general aviation through the years.

·         COPA Achievement Award: Recognizes an admirable and remarkable individual effort in aviation.

·         COPA Good Show Award: This award is given to individuals for any exceptional activity similar to: Most remarkable flight, outstanding contribution to aviation safety, friendliest airport, outstanding action by linecrew/mechanic/flightcrew etc.

·         COPA Literary Award: Presented to the person chosen by the Publisher/Editor of COPA Flight for the best contribution to the publication over the past year.

Current COPA board members and staff are not eligible for any of the above mentioned awards.

Please indicate which category you feel is appropriate, the committee may reassign if more fitting.

Those chosen receive handsome wall plaques to display at home, their club, or in the office.

The awards will be presented at COPA's Annual Convention in Moncton, New Brunswick on July 7, with due ceremony to recipients who attend.

For winners unable to attend the convention, the awards may be presented on an individual basis at an appropriate local event.

C’est de nouveau le temps de réfléchir à savoir qui à l’intérieur de votre milieu de vol mérite de la reconnaissance par rapport à leur engagement ou leurs actions qui rendent notre hobby plus agréable.

Il ou elle pourrait être un membre du club, un mécanicien de vol, un gars du gouvernement, un politicien local, ou une brave personne de recherche et sauvetage.  Les Prix COPA sont notre façon de dire « Merci! » à ceux que l’on apprécie en aviation.

Tony Swain est le Président du Comité des Prix, et c’est à lui qu’il faut envoyer vos nominations par le biais d’un Fax ou d’un courriel à la COPA.  Tout ce dont nous avons besoin est une brève lettre de nomination mentionnant qui, où, quand et comment.  Une longueur d’une ou deux pages est suffisante; si nous en avons besoin de plus, nous le demanderons.

À l’exception du Prix littéraire, les gagnants seront choisis par le Conseil d’administration de la COPA à partir de nominations provenant de la communauté d’aviation générale.

·         Prix du Président COPA: Présenté annuellement à la personne/aux personnes qui ont fait une contribution significative en aviation générale au Canada durant les dernières années.

·         Prix du mérite COPA: Présenté à la personne/aux personnes qui ont activement supporté et promu la COPA au cours de la dernière année.

·         Prix d’appréciation COPA: Présenté à la personne/aux personnes qui ont rendu un service et un support constants à l’aviation générale au fil des ans.

·         Prix d’accomplissement COPA: Reconnaît un effort individuel admirable et remarquable en aviation.

·         Prix Mention honorable COPA: Ce prix est donné aux individus pour toute activité exceptionnelle tel que: vol le plus remarquable, contribution extraordinaire à la sécurité aérienne, aéroport le plus sympathique, action extraordinaire par un employé de ligne, un mécanicien ou un membre d’équipage de bord, etc.

·         Prix littéraire COPA: Présenté à la personne choisie par l’Éditeur/Rédacteur du journal COPA Flight comme meilleure contribution au cours de l’an passé.

Les membres actuels du Conseil d’administration et le personnel de la COPA ne sont pas éligibles à aucun des prix mentionnés.

SVP, indiquez quelle catégorie vous pensez serait la plus appropriée, tenant compte du fait que le Comité peut réassigner une catégorie plus appropriée.

Les récipiendaires des prix recevront une très belle plaque murale à exposer à la maison, à leur club, ou au bureau.

Les prix seront présentés lors de la Convention annuelle de la COPA à Moncton, New Brunswick, le 7 juillet prochain, lors d’une cérémonie protocolaire aux récipiendaires qui seront sur place.

Pour les gagnants qui sont incapables de se rendre à la convention, les prix pourront être présentés de façon individuelle lors d’un évènement local approprié.
