More Places to Fly – Now 870 of Them! 

Every month Places to Fly, COPA’s user-editable airport directory, grows as pilots and airport managers add more new airports. By the middle of June 2007 we had 870 airports there, with more added every day. 

There have also been many updates to existing airports in the last month, as pilots add new details to existing entries. Many of the most recent updates have been to add fuel prices and fresh airport photographs. 

If you haven’t seen the national list of 100LL fuel prices, this is a great feature that lists all the reported prices of avgas from cheapest to the most expensive, right across the country. There are also lists of fuel prices within each province (For instance Alberta) that can be accessed by clicking on the link on the province page. The provincial fuel lists are probably more useful if you are shopping for fuel in a limited area. 

Avgas prices vary greatly around the country – even at different airports in the same city, so shopping around makes good sense. Places to Fly helps you do that, but only if prices are kept up to date by everyone buying avgas. When you buy gas at an airport make a note of the price and enter it on the airport page on Places to Fly when you get home. Even if the price is the same as was listed on the page already, changing the date to “today” will show that the price is still current.
